Without Heat Exchangers
A horizontal stainless steel cylinder without a heat exchanger is essentially a large, insulated storage vessel. The water is not heated by a coil inside the tank but by an electric element or from outside, for example by a plate heat exchanger, another cylinder in series or a domestic hot water heat pump.
It is used in large installations where hot water is produced centrally and extra volume is needed for peak hours, such as hotels and sports centres with a low plant room.
