Subfloor heating
With underfloor heating, the floor itself becomes the heat emitter. A network of plastic pipes is laid over thermal insulation and covered with screed, beneath the finished floor. Low-temperature hot water circulates through the pipes. Heat rises evenly from the whole surface, with no radiators on the walls and a pleasant feeling underfoot. It suits homes under construction or undergoing a full renovation, and pairs very well with a heat pump or a condensing boiler.
How to choose
- Heat source: underfloor heating runs on low-temperature water, which is why it suits heat pumps and condensing boilers so well. With a solid-fuel or oil boiler, a mixing valve is needed.
- Construction stage: the pipes go in before the finished floor. In an existing home this means removing the floors and having enough height for insulation, pipes and screed.
- Floor finish: tiles, marble and stone transfer heat easily; wood and rugs need care over thickness and material.
- How you use the house: the floor warms up slowly and holds its heat, so it suits homes heated steadily rather than for a few hours a day.
- Summer cooling: with a heat pump, the same pipes can provide gentle cooling in summer, with proper humidity control.
Underfloor heating is designed for each home individually: heat loss, pipe spacing, circuits per room and the distribution manifold. That is why Climaventis studies each project and prepares a quotation for it, starting with a free initial assessment, with installation by our partner installers.
