Description

Sun and heat pump, in one cylinder.

The Mastersol HP is a closed-circuit solar water heater designed to connect to a heat pump. Inside the tank is a very long coil heat exchanger, along about 80% of the tank, that works well even with a flow temperature of about 55°C. The water heats up quickly, with good stratification and fewer heat pump cycles.

The coil is made of 2mm DC tube, enamelled to DIN 4753-3, with a large cross-section, which the heat pump needs to run properly. Because tank and exchanger are built as one, there is less of the electrolysis that add-on exchangers of other materials cause, and the flange stays free for servicing and replacing the anode.

The tank has Bayer Duro Glass enamel fired at 850°C, a magnesium anode, a jacket for the solar closed circuit, which withstands −47°C, and a 3.5kw electric element. The collector has a full-plate selective aluminium-titanium absorber, copper risers and 3.2mm tempered safety glass that stands up to hail and heavy rain.

This range covers the 150 and 200-litre models, with 2 to 4 m² of collectors. For larger needs there are the 300-litre HP models.

Mastersol solar water heaters carry an A+ energy label and are CE and Solar Keymark certified.

Highlights

What makes the difference.

What every HP comes with, from the coil to the collector.

Coil for the heat pump

Coil for the heat pump

The coil runs along about 80% of the tank and has a large cross-section. It works well even with a flow of about 55°C, for quick hot water recovery and better stratification. Ideal for hybrid sun and heat pump systems.

Closed-circuit jacket

Closed-circuit jacket

Around the tank, the jacket of the solar circuit is filled with antifreeze, for frost resistance down to −47°C. 2.5mm European steel, Bayer Duro Glass enamel fired at 850°C and 5cm of rigid polyurethane insulation.

Full-plate absorber

Full-plate absorber

A 0.40mm selective aluminium-titanium sheet across the whole collector, on Ø22 & Ø8 copper risers. 3.2mm tempered safety glass that stands up to hail and heavy rain.

One-piece aluminium frame

One-piece aluminium frame

A one-piece aluminium frame with a 1.25mm profile, a 0.5mm galvanised steel back and double 4cm mineral wool insulation. 100% neutral silicone.

Closed circuit with antifreeze

Closed circuit with antifreeze

The collector and the jacket are filled with antifreeze, so the system withstands frost down to −47°C. On top of the tank are the fill and vent points of the circuit and the seat of its safety valve (1.5-3 bar).

Galvanised frame

Galvanised frame

The mounting frame is made of 2mm seamless galvanised steel, in a flat-roof (18kg) or a tiled-roof (20kg) version. You choose it when you order.

Warranty & installation

We are here after you buy.

Warranty
5 yearson the cylinder, serviced every 2 years
10 yearson the cylinder, with the extension kit and a yearly service
15 yearson the solar collectors
1 yearon the electrical parts

The extension kit is an overheat valve (94°C / 6 bar), a 10 bar closed expansion vessel and an expansion vessel for the closed circuit. The warranty covers parts, not labour or transport, and does not cover the collector glass.

The system must be installed by a licensed plumber. The warranty form is filled in, signed and emailed to Mastersol (info@mastersol.gr), together with proof of each service.

Which size do I need?

Mastersol sizes its systems for a normal use of 40 litres of hot water at 40°C per person. As a guide: 1 person, 100 litres with 1.5 m² anywhere in Greece. 2 people, 120 litres with 2.0 m² (1.5 m² is enough in southern Greece). 3 people, 120 litres with 2.0 m², or 160 litres with 2.0 m² in northern Greece. 4 people, 160 litres with 2.5 m² (2.0 m² in the south). 5 people, 200 litres with 3 m², or 4 m² in northern Greece. If you are not sure, call us. The HP models come in 150, 200 and 300 litres.

Which heat pump does it work with?

The HP is designed to connect to a heat pump, and its coil works well even with a flow of about 55°C. For your particular heat pump, ask us before you order.

Why a built-in coil instead of an add-on exchanger?

Because tank and coil are built as one, with a uniform surface. Add-on exchangers of different materials (copper or stainless steel) wear the anode out quickly through electrolysis and shorten the life of the tank. The flange also stays free for servicing and replacing the anode.

Does it withstand frost?

Yes. It runs on a closed circuit with antifreeze and withstands temperatures down to −47°C. The antifreeze is checked and topped up every year, depending on the area.

Can it go on a flat roof and on a tiled roof?

Yes. The mounting frame is made of 2mm seamless galvanised steel, in a flat-roof (18kg) or a tiled-roof (20kg) version. You choose it in the product options.

What warranty does it have?

5 years on the cylinder, serviced every 2 years. 10 years if you also fit an overheat valve (94°C / 6 bar), a 10 bar closed expansion vessel and a closed-circuit expansion vessel, with a yearly service. 15 years on the collectors and 1 year on the electrical parts. The warranty covers parts, not labour or transport.

What servicing does it need?

Every 2 years the magnesium anode rod and the safety valves are replaced, or every year for the 10-year warranty. Every year the antifreeze is checked and topped up. The technician signs the warranty form and gives you a service receipt.

How are delivery and installation done?

The solar water heater ships by carrier throughout Greece; you see the shipping options and cost in the cart. A licensed plumber installs it, which is also a condition of the warranty; we can suggest a partner in your area.
