Heating Radiators

Radiators are the final link in a central heating system: this is where hot water from the boiler, energy fireplace or heat pump gives off its heat to the room. In this category you will find steel panel radiators in various heights and lengths, bathroom radiators that double as towel rails, and classic AKAN sectional radiators, from manufacturers such as Airfel.

How to choose

• Heat output: each room needs a certain amount of heat depending on its area, insulation, windows and orientation. Radiator output is given in kcal/h or watts for a specific water temperature.
• Panel type: the numbers 11, 22 and 33 show how many panels and rows of convector fins a radiator has. A type 22 gives more heat than a type 11 of the same size, with slightly greater depth.
• Available space: height and length are usually set by the window or wall the radiator will go on. A low, long radiator under a window spreads heat evenly.
• Heat source: with a heat pump or a condensing boiler the water runs cooler, so radiators need to be larger to deliver the same heat.
• Bathroom: bathroom radiators heat the room and dry towels, and connect to the central heating like any other radiator. Check width and height against the free wall space.
