Boiler Room Tanks

Boiler room tanks store hot water in central heating and domestic hot water systems. They are installed indoors and connect to one or more heat sources: a boiler, a heat pump, solar collectors or a wood-burning fireplace with a water jacket. All of them are made by Mastersol, our own brand, in vertical and horizontal versions, with stainless steel options in some sizes, and with no heat exchanger or with one or two, fixed or removable.

The types

• Hot water cylinders: for domestic hot water, heated by the boiler, a heat pump or solar collectors.
• Buffer tanks: they store heating water, holding surplus heat from a solid fuel boiler or a water-jacketed fireplace for later and reducing the number of heat pump start-ups.
• Heat pump cylinders: with a heat exchanger sized for the lower water temperatures a heat pump delivers.
• Tank-in-tank: a domestic hot water tank inside a heating water tank, for when you want one vessel instead of two.

How to choose

• What it will store: domestic hot water (cylinder), heating water (buffer) or both (tank-in-tank).
• Heat sources: every source with its own circuit needs its own heat exchanger; solar plus a boiler, for example, needs two.
• Volume: for a cylinder it follows hot water use; for a buffer, the output and type of the boiler or heat pump.
• Fixed or removable heat exchanger: a removable one is easier to clean and replace, especially in large tanks.
• Space: measure ceiling height, doors and corridors; a horizontal tank helps when height is limited.

The right tank depends on the whole system. Call us on 2610 334 389 for technical advice or ask for a heating study with a free initial assessment. Installation can be carried out by our partners anywhere in Greece.
