Description

A fireplace that heats the whole house.

The Werstahl BioHydro Pellet is a Greek-made water-heating fireplace that burns pellets, olive pits, wood and coal. It connects to the radiators of the house and works like a boiler, on a closed or an open circuit.

Pellets and olive pits are fed automatically from a 200 kg silo, which can stand to the right, to the left or behind the fireplace. With wood or coal it runs manually, like any fireplace: you load the fuel into the hearth by hand.

It is built from 5 mm ST37-2 steel, with a 6 bar test pressure and a 3 bar working pressure, and holds 80 or 120 litres of water. It has mechanical adjustment of the primary combustion, secondary combustion for higher efficiency and lower emissions, and tertiary combustion so that the ceramic glass does not blacken often. The door slides up on gears and a chain, and also opens to the right or to the left.

Highlights

From the silo to the glass.

What every BioHydro Pellet comes with.

A silo beside the fireplace

A silo beside the fireplace

The silo holds 200 kg and feeds pellets or olive pits to the hearth automatically. It can stand to the right, to the left or behind the fireplace, whichever suits your room.

Automatic feed

Automatic feed

The geared motor under the silo brings the fuel to the hearth. As an indication, a full silo gives up to 90 hours of autonomy on the BioHydro 30 and up to 80 hours on the BioHydro 40.

Pellets or wood in the same hearth

Pellets or wood in the same hearth

Pellets and olive pits arrive automatically at the base of the hearth. When you want wood, you load it by hand, like in any fireplace.

Door and glass

Door and glass

The door slides up on gears and a chain, and also opens to the right or to the left. Tertiary combustion, an air curtain, sends hot air across the door: combustion is more efficient and the ceramic glass does not blacken often.

Dampers

Chimney damper and air intake damper.

On the BioHydro both dampers are added when you order; their price is added to the price of the fireplace.

Chimney damper+100.00 €

Lets you adjust the flow of the flue gases and the intensity of the fire by hand.

Central air intake damper+45.00 €

Lets you set how much air enters the combustion chamber, for better control of the flame and the temperature.

Fuels

Pellets and olive pits automatically, wood and coal by hand.

With pellets, olive pits and other biomass the fireplace runs automatically from the silo. With wood or coal it runs manually, like any fireplace.

Compare the models

Two sizes, one design.

Both models have a 200 kg silo, 5 mm steel, a 6 bar test pressure and the same features. Choose the size by the heat output of the radiators in your home.

Before installing

  • SizeWerstahl advises choosing a fireplace by the heat output of the radiators in the house plus 20-30%, not by floor area. E.g. radiators of 20,000 kcal × 1.30 = 26,000 kcal, about 30 kW.
  • CircuitClosed circuit: steady pressure, no water loss and less corrosion. Open circuit: simpler and cheaper to install, but it needs more frequent servicing and topping up with water. With a heat exchanger: the fireplace on an open circuit and the radiators on a closed one.
  • FlueFlue outlet 200mm.
  • PlumbingFireplace water content 80lt. We supply the connection kits and the plumbing parts, e.g. copper pipes: ask us for a quote.
  • SpaceDimensions 140 x 155 x 70cm (W × H × D), net weight 350kg. Plan the position of the silo too: right, left or behind the fireplace.
  • Choice and connectionOur mechanical engineers help you choose the right size and the way to connect it. The connection kits come with a detailed diagram.

What fuels does it burn?

Wood pellets, olive pits, kernels, maize and other biomass, fed automatically from the silo. And wood or coal, which you load into the hearth by hand, like in any fireplace.

Does it heat the whole house?

Yes. It connects to the radiators and works like a boiler. The comparison shows the indicative heated space of each size; it depends on the climate and the heat losses of the house.

Which size do I need?

According to Werstahl, a fireplace is chosen not by floor area but by the heat output of the radiators plus 20-30%. For radiators of 20,000 kcal: 20,000 × 1.30 = 26,000 kcal, about 30 kW. Call us and our engineers will help.

Where does the silo go and how long does it last?

To the right, to the left or behind the fireplace. It holds 200 kg; as an indication, autonomy reaches up to 90 hours on the BioHydro 30 and up to 80 hours on the BioHydro 40. In practice it depends on the fuel and on how much heat the house needs.

Closed or open circuit?

The BioHydro connects to either. There are connection kits for an open circuit, for a closed circuit and with a heat exchanger, supplied with a detailed connection diagram. The choice depends on the installation; we will help you choose.

What do the dampers do?

The chimney damper adjusts the flow of the flue gases and the intensity of the fire by hand. The air intake damper sets how much air enters the combustion chamber. On the BioHydro both are added when you order.

What warranty does it have?

7 years on the whole fireplace and 2 years on the electrical and electronic parts. Ask us about the warranty terms.

How are delivery and installation done?

The fireplace ships by carrier throughout Greece, with the cost shown in the cart, or you collect it from our shop in Patras. An installer fits it; we can suggest a partner in your area.
